Birdflu in Phuket
We live in KL since 2 years (orig.CH) and like to travel to Phuket in 2 weeks. Now we hear about the birdflu and are not sure if we should still go or not.
We booked the airline tickets already but not the hotel. We only stay in Phuket and only for 5 days, should this be OK?
Yes, I would not be worried about the bird flu going 5 days to Phuket.
The risk is clone to none and so far, only people working clsely with poultry production has been infected and even here it is very few.
The birdflu do not infect between people only from birds to people. The birds excreete the virus in their droppings and you need to inhale it to have a risk of infection.

Bird flu in Vietnam
I am currently residing in Vietnam. There has been a lot of talk about the bird flu, but no information on its symptoms. Could you enlighten me on what they are.
My family is not eating chicken at the moment and none of us are in direct contact with live poultry either - is there any reason for me to be concerned about the bird flu affecting us?
The risk is really minimal unless you work in poultry production.
To the ebst of our knowledge it is not possible to be infected by eating chickens.
The only reasonable measure you can take is to avoid markets where they sell live chickens, which may be infected and thus be shedding the virus in their faeces.
