The authorities have recorded 47 cases of meningitis with 13 dead in Hoima District, 150 cases have been reported in Arua with 18 dead, and 14 in Masindi with four deaths.

The meningitis outbreak continues in Western and Northern Uganda but the precise limit of the outbreak remain uncertain. Visitors to the areas of Uganda should be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis also for short stays. The type of meningitis bacteria causing the outbreak is still not known.
