The largest outbreak of dengue fever for decades has been reported from the Santa Cruz province in Bolivia with more than 42,000 cases and 13 deaths.

Dengue fever is caused by a virus which is transmitted by mosquitoes. There is no vaccine and the only preventon is to avoid mosquite bites.
